Exciting Times at Barton Heights
New Doctor/Ownership
As of January 24, 2009, there is a new doctor and owner of Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Jeremy Wentz comes to Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital with a wealth of experience. Having spent time at several day practice veterinary hospitals in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Wentz is extremely familiar with the daily needs of pets and their owners. Combined with his day practice experience, Dr. Wentz first started out working in emergency veterinary medicine. His five years of experience in emergency medicine, honed his knowledge of soft tissue surgeries, ultrasounds, and many emergency procedures. Dr. Wentz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (2003), Muhlenberg College (1998), and Lehighton High School (1994). Dr. Wentz currently resides in Clarks Summit, with his wife Nicole and children Jackson, and Brielle, golden retriever Champ, and domestic short hair cat, Sage. Dr. Wentz enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, and playing recreational sports in his spare time.
Dr. Craig Ott and his wife and practice manager, Lynette have retired. Dr. Wentz and staff wish them the best in their new adventure. Dr. Mark B. Burch continues to work at Barton Heights, along with Dr. Sean Ott, Dr. Jennifer Cree, and our new associate Dr. Dana Greenleaf.
Expanded Hours at Barton Heights
Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital is offering extended weekend hours for your pet. The hospital will be open on Saturdays from 8am until 8pm, and on Sundays from 8am until 8pm by appointment. For the families that have a difficult time making weekday appointments, we hope that this service is going to be a benefit to you and your pets. Also, if your pet becomes ill over the weekend, your family vet will still be here to treat them, rather than having to pay expensive emergency clinic fees.

GUIDELINES
Vaccinations have saved the lives of millions of cats. Before the days of effective vaccines, cats routinely died from panleukopenia ("feline distemper") and complications of upper respiratory (herpesvirus, calicivirus) infections. Newer vaccines are available to protect against feline leukemia virus infection, feline infectious peritonitis virus and other infections (chlamydia, feline bordetella, ringworm).
